"Starting Block" est une introduction à LIEF Records, un label parisien créé par Waldman voulant mettre en avant toute la diversité esthétique de la musique électronique. Pour cette première compilation, Waldman a fait appel à plusieurs artistes proches de lui qui ont tous une patte musicale bien singulière. Et si la mixtape oscille sans complexe entre techno, house, r'n'b, rap et minimal, elle conserve une unité musicale claire, celle de l'électronique sans concession.
